Tumaini Rescue Centre

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

– Matthew 19: 14

Project Overview

CRWRF has supported the Tumaini Rescue Centre since 1991 and presently there are approximately 30 children being cared for and supported through the sponsorship program. Representatives visit “our” homes on a regular basis and make recommendations for improvements. By training the local staff and community members, these centers will seek to increase visibility and community involvement in the care and support of orphans and vulnerable children.

Prayer Requests

  • Political stability and an end to violent demonstrations.
  • Wisdom in making the decisions on how best to implement government mandated changes to the centers.
Project Details

Tumaini Rescue Centers are placing greater emphasis on self-sufficiency. In response to the challenging economic climate, the homes have launched agricultural programs to supply fresh produce and milk for the children, while generating additional income through the sale of surplus goods.

Project Start & Partners

Tumaini Rescue Center is operated by the Africa Inland Child & Community Agency for Development (AICCAD), a local Christian organization. AICCAD has partnered with CRWRF to manage the home since 1991.

Highlights
  • The Education Bursary Fund (EBF) has supported over a dozen children living at the Tumaini Rescue Center through further education.

  • The local church and community continue to be instrumental in the support of the center and the development and care of the children.

Challenges
  • Ongoing economic hardships and inflation have resulted in the prices of everyday commodities doubling, making it difficult for the Center to run smoothly and meet the basic needs of the children.
