Supporting Orphanages in Queretaro, Mexico For over 15 years, Faithworks has been dedicated to sending teams to the Pan de Vida orphanage in Queretaro, Mexico.
As Pan de Vida became more established, our focus shifted to another local orphanage, Esperanza Para Ti (Hope for You), which requires significant expansion and support.
The initial project at Esperanza Para Ti involved constructing lodging for visiting teams. The contributions of these teams are invaluable, as they not only fund construction costs but also cover all expenses related to their stay. Beyond the physical labor, the presence of volunteers greatly encourages the children and staff, fostering meaningful connections and providing a source of joy. This experience is truly a blessing for both the participants and the orphanage residents.
Currently, Esperanza Para Ti is home to 28 children—8 boys and 20 girls—along with 12 caregivers and their families, totaling 40 individuals. We are grateful for the love, care, and nurturing environment provided at Esperanza. In addition to being a safe place for the children to live, the orphanage operates a fully functioning farm, raising sheep, rabbits, chickens, pigs, and cows for milk, cheese, and meat production. These agricultural projects not only supply food for the children but also generate income by selling livestock to cover expenses. Furthermore, the orphanage cultivates a variety of fruits and vegetables on its property.
Many children arriving at Esperanza lack basic literacy skills, so the staff dedicates time to teaching them. In addition to shelter, food, clothing, and education, the orphanage offers medical and dental care with the assistance of professionals. The farm setting also teaches children responsibility as they engage in planting, harvesting, caring for livestock, and milking cows.
A primary financial need at Esperanza Para Ti is a new dormitory to adequately house the children. Construction of this new facility began in January 2023 and will feature three floors, each measuring 80 ft by 63 ft, totaling over 15,000 square feet of living space. The dormitory will accommodate up to 42 children, include four supervisor suites, a laundry room, and a spacious game and TV room. Over the past few months, 18 teams from Canada and the USA have contributed to the foundation work. We anticipate that the construction will take approximately three years, supported by both local labor and international teams.
